About the Artist | DCD Dixon
DCD Dixon (David C. Dixon) is a contemporary fine art photographer based in Denver, Colorado. His work explores themes of stillness, memory, presence, and the subtle ways time reveals itself within ordinary places.
After more than three decades working as a photojournalist, producer, director, and visual storyteller in broadcast television and commercial media, Dixon turned his attention toward a slower and more contemplative photographic practice. His early career included Emmy-nominated productions and Associated Press award-winning work, experiences that sharpened his ability to recognize meaningful moments within everyday life.
Today, working under the name DCD Dixon, he creates photographs that are less concerned with documenting events than with observing what remains after them. Through landscapes, architectural studies, still lifes, and found moments, his images investigate the relationship between attention and meaning. Rather than seeking spectacle, the work invites viewers into a quieter encounter with light, form, memory, and presence.
Central to Dixon's practice is the concept of Sacred Noticing—the belief that the ordinary world contains layers of significance often overlooked in the pace of contemporary life. His photographs emerge from an ongoing discipline of observation, patience, and attentiveness, seeking to reveal the extraordinary hidden within familiar places and everyday experience.
Dixon's work has been exhibited in Colorado and is held in private collections. He continues to live and work in Denver, where he is developing new bodies of work exploring presence, perception, and the contemplative possibilities of photography.
