About the Artist | DCD Dixon
I am David Charles Davidson Dixon, working as DCD Dixon.
My photographs begin with a simple belief: the ordinary is far more extraordinary than we often allow ourselves to see.
For much of my life I moved quickly. I worked as a photojournalist, producer, director, and visual storyteller, spending decades focused on deadlines, events, and the constant movement of the world around me. Photography was often about what was happening.
Over time, something changed.
I slowed down.
I began paying attention to things I had once overlooked—light moving across a wall, the geometry of shadow, weathered surfaces marked by time, quiet places shaped by human presence. These moments were not dramatic, yet they seemed to carry a deeper significance. They felt like invitations to notice.
This shift became the foundation of what I now call Sacred Noticing.
Sacred Noticing is both a photographic practice and a way of living. It is the discipline of paying attention long enough for the world to reveal itself. The photographs are not constructed for spectacle. They are gathered through presence, patience, and curiosity.
The subjects vary—architecture, landscape, abstraction, and traces of human activity—but the thread connecting them is awareness. Each image marks a moment when something ordinary revealed an unexpected depth, a quiet order, or a hint of grace.
My work is influenced by faith, memory, time, and the belief that meaning is often found in places we pass every day without pause. The camera serves not as a tool for performance, but as a witness.
Today I create contemporary fine art photography from my studio in Denver, Colorado. My work has been exhibited in galleries and is available as archival fine art prints for collectors who are drawn to contemplative imagery and the experience of slow looking.
These photographs are not answers.
They are invitations.
Invitations to pause.
To notice.
And perhaps to discover that the sacred is not distant, but woven quietly into the fabric of everyday life.
