About The Artist DCD Dixon
I am David Charles Davidson Dixon (DCD Dixon)
David C. Dixon (often working under the name DCD Dixon) is a fine art photographer whose work centers on stillness, duration, and the quiet ways time settles into place. His photographs are less concerned with moments than with what remains—spaces shaped by absence, memory, and the subtle weight of having been lived in.
Over time, Dixon’s relationship to photography changed as his relationship to time changed. Sobriety and a more intentional, mindful way of moving through the world slowed his attention—how he sees, how he listens, and how long he is willing to stay with a place. As his perspective shifted, the work evolved with it.
Dixon often thinks of life as something built gradually, the way a cathedral is built over generations—through patience, care, and daily choices that may not feel dramatic in the moment but ultimately shape everything. In that sense, he approaches his photographs as architectural in time, treating duration, return, and presence as part of the structure of the image.
Working deliberately and often returning to the same environments, Dixon approaches photography as a form of sustained attention rather than capture. Process plays a central role in his practice, with an emphasis on traditional photographic methods and the physical print as object. Each photograph is meant to be encountered slowly, allowing meaning to surface without instruction or narrative closure.
Dixon lives and works in Denver, Colorado. In addition to his fine art practice, he is the founder of Gratitude Cove Digital Media Productions. His fine art work, produced under the name DCD Dixon, remains a separate and ongoing inquiry—grounded in restraint, endurance, and the belief that quiet images can hold time.
